A day for the kids

Bring them down and become the world's best parent. Until it's time to leave.

Isn’t it funny how a lack of stimulation can transform the sweetest of kids into something unrecognizable? Okay, maybe not that funny. But here’s the good news. We always have plenty going on for our most important visitors. Rain or shine.

For a start, the Kids Market has 25 shops, selling all manner of kids’ delights. And if the giant indoor Adventure Zone doesn’t get them excited, Canada’s largest free outdoor Water Park is just the thing for hot summer days (open daily from Victoria Day long weekend through Labour Day 10am - 6pm). If after all that, you decide that the little people deserve treats, The Public Market has gourmet ice cream and gelato or everything edible to make them smile.

Don’t miss watching Granville Island’s artists at work. Favourites include glass-blowing (New Small and Sterling Glass Studio, 1440 Old Bridge Street) and totem pole carving (Ocean Art Works next to the Ocean Construction plant). Make the day even more memorable by arriving on the Island by miniature ferry across False Creek.

See Aquabus and False Creek Ferries for info. And for scheduled children’s activities, please see the Carousel Theatre Company, the False Creek Community Centre, Vancouver TheatreSports League and the Arts Umbrella.

Facilities & Services- The Kids Market, Net Loft and Public Market all have baby change facilities. Stroller rentals are available at the Kids Market administration office on the 2nd level. The Public Market is equipped with a first aid room, and staff are trained in First Aid.
