O Canada Day! on Granville Island 2025

July 1 2025 @ 7:30 am PDT

O Canada Day! returns to Granville Island on July 1st with celebrations for the entire family. Located in the new Chain & Forge outdoor event space from 10 AM to 6 PM, with additional activities Island wide, the day includes live music performances and bands, artisans and makers, food vendors, dance classes, kids’ activities,  and an official Canada Day Ceremony with anthem and free cake for everyone at 1 PM. Early birds will find the Public Market coffee shops open at 7:30-8 AM just in time to take in the annual Ferry Ballet performance by the False Creek Ferries fleet at approx. 8 AM off the False Creek Ferries dock behind the Public Market.

Official Canada Day Ceremony | FREE
1pm-2pm

Show your national pride! Hear greetings from the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) First Nations, Granville Island Leadership, and Government of Canada. Then join Roan Shankrunk in singing our anthem and bring your kids for a piece of Canada Day cake, compliments of the Dockside Restaurant.

Chain & Forge Block Party
10am-6pm, Chain & Forge, 1459 Anderson St. West

Latincouver Cultural Society will be hosting free-family friendly crafts and activities at their information booth, please stop by to learn more about their organization and to make your own handmade paper Maple Leaf décor.

Darning Yarn Workshop – Fibre Arts Studio

Paint your own sock yarn and the team at Fibre Arts Studio will steam and fix your dyes! All supplies will be provided.

False Creek Ferries Ballet 8:30am – False Creek Ferries

The False Creek Ferry skippers have been performing a choreographed ‘ferry ballet’ show on Canada Day for well over twenty-five years. Figure eights, crossovers & starbursts are only a sample of the crews’ acrobatic repertoire.

Lobster Man – Annual Lobster Roll Picnic | 9am till sold out

Celebrate Canada Day with the iconic Lobster Roll or full Lobster Boil, a featured specialty offered annually on July 1st!  These tasty treats often sell out quickly so make sure to head over to the Lobster Man early and experience this amazing culinary special.

Kids Market Canada Day Celebrations | 11am-5pm
Park Behind the Kids Market

Transform yourself into your favorite fantastic creature – superheroes included! – with the magic of face painting, enjoy sand art and balloon twisting, and fill hungry tummies at the Beanstalk Bistro or at Soumak Boutique Turkish Coffee Stand! Free activities for kids include arts and crafts by Kaboodles.

Granville Island Waterpark | 10am-6pm | FREE

Need to cool down? Head over to Granville Island’s free waterpark, where you and/or the kids can splash around for free and beat the heat!

MAKE Button Making Activity | 10am-6pm | Ticketed

Create your own custom button by donation, with proceeds to the Urban Native Youth Association (UNYA). Contribute to our large printed Canada Map by marking where you’re from, or where your favourite place is in Canada, and adding a doodle or comment. Don’t forget to snap a photo at our selfie booth with Bucky the Beaver, carved by artist Peter Kiss.

‘Canada, Eh!’ at The Improv Centre | 7pm
Inspired by experiences of locals and visitors alike, join us as we honour our favourite bits and pieces of Canada! Let’s celebrate our wonderful, scenic and friendly country together with an evening of laughter!
