Pop Up Leasing Opportunities

Granville Island is known as Vancouver’s premier artistic and cultural hub. Located in an urban, waterfront location and steeped in a rich industrial and maritime heritage, this unique destination attracts millions of visitors each year from Vancouver and around the world. Granville Island is famous for its Public Market and is abundant with unique retailers, restaurants, cultural venues and theatres, galleries and studios. All of this makes Granville Island a great place to launch your brand, showcase and sell your art, and connect with current and new customers daily.

We are pleased to have the opportunity to have the following spaces available for short term pop up use. We are looking for creative use artists, makers, unique brands and gallerists who are able to fulfill minimum operating hours of 11am-6pm 7 days/week. Bookings will be accepted in 2-4 week timeslots.

Scheduling is based on availability and fit. Applicants must provide an offering that will complement or enhance the existing creative use tenant mix on Granville Island. Applications will be considered based on the following criteria:

- use of premises/offering

- marketing & promotion plan

- signage & space design

- ability to animate/merchandise the space 

- timeslot requested (based on availability)

Accepting applications for 2-4 week periods between the following dates: September 6, 2019 - January 2, 2020

  • 1,504 square feet (ground floor only)
  • Double doors + Garage Door
  • Locked office/storage area
  • Shared Bathroom in back common area
  • Wifi included

  • Built in desk/countertop + one set of cubed shelving
  • Gross Rent Fee: $1,000.00 per week (plus GST) between September - December 2019 (please note these are Fall/Winter rates, Spring/Summer rates are $1,200/week)
  • $500.00 deposit required /insurance coverage (COI) required - due upon signing/execution of the License Agreement

To be considered, please complete the application form below and attach a two page summary that includes the following:

- Explain and show photo examples and website links of the products/ offerings/ programming produced by the applicant which demonstrate a high quality of craftsmanship/ innovation/ creativity/ uniqueness/ public engagement.**

- Briefly describe the customer/client base the applicant will be targeting and how the proposed pop up use will serve/interact with those customers/clients.

- Provide what the pricing/fee range will be for your products/work/offerings

- Provide a marketing & promotion plan (detailing items such as advertising/promotion, community outreach, website, email campaigns, demonstrations, events, social media strategy)

- Detail any past and future pop ups you have done as well as any participation in local events, industry events and/or community initiatives, if applicable

- Provide a rendering of the proposed signage and interior layout of the pop up and explain the applicant’s ability and plans to create a strong and inviting visual animation of the premises

 

* CMHC reserves the right to extend deadlines, consider late submissions, or re-post EOIs with revised deadlines in the event the desired number of applications for a given space is not achieved by the original application deadline.
