One of the original shops and a staple of the Granville Island Public Market for 38 years, Lee's Donuts is excited to introduce new owners Allan and Celine Bacani.
Current owner Betty-Ann Lee will be hanging up her apron after a very successful run operating a treasured local business in the community.
“My husband and I opened Lee’s Donuts almost 40 years ago. Our business model, like our donuts, is simplicity and authenticity. Our customers come expecting no surprises in their donuts and to be greeted by our friendly staff. Allan and Celine’s business plan aligns with our vision, and their ties with the Market and humble attitude make them the perfect successor of the shop. I am confident that Lee’s Donuts will continue to flourish under their management.”
The Bacani family is no stranger to Granville Island. Allan’s father Armando Bacani, owner of Armando’s Finest Quality Meats also located in the Market, has been cutting up the best quality meats for customers since 1983. Allan grew up in the Market working alongside his father at the butcher shop, from whom he learned the secrets to running a successful business.
“I often joke I was born in a box of aprons. Working at Armando’s has taught me the ins and outs of the Market,” says Allan Bacani, new owner of Lee’s Donuts. “As a market kid, I am honoured to carry on Betty-Ann and her late husband Alan’s legacy. We want to further the success of Lee’s Donuts by making it the must-have donut in Vancouver for locals and visitors, and in turn drive even more foot traffic for the Market to benefit the community.”
The Bacanis and the staff at Lee’s Donuts are looking forward to exciting changes and hope customers, regulars and visitors from worldwide, will continue to support Lee’s Donuts and enjoy every bite of this classic treat.
