As the Executive Director for the Vancouver Fringe Festival, and I’ve been working on Granville Island for over 10 years now, and I’ve had many wonderful experiences in that time.
We usually get great weather during the festival, but one time we had torrential rain. We had set up a Fringe bar, outdoors in Railspur Alley and there was this enormous puddle. Within minutes, somebody had taken his shoes off and started dancing in the puddle, then everyone joined in. It was a moment of spontaneity and fun and joy that came to us because we were on Granville Island.
