The Granville Island Trust is an advisory body to CMHC's Granville Island Office, composed of nine members, including a Chair. The Trust has representation from Granville Island, local area residents and the City of Vancouver, and bring a broad range of expertise including business, government, the arts, urban development and public relations. The Trust advises CMHC on a wide range of subjects and deals with various issues and acts as a liaison to the Minister responsible for CMHC and local elected representatives.
Sergio Custodio is a Partner in the Vancouver office of the business law firm Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP and advises clients on a broad range of business and commercial matters, with a focus on real estate, infrastructure and transportation. Sergio was formerly in-house counsel to the Vancouver International Airport Authority (YVR), where he advised on real estate and business matters including those relating to stakeholders, business partners, and municipal, provincial and federal governments.
Rick Dickson is president and managing broker of Ascent Real Estate Management Corporation since 1979 providing strata, rental and trading services. He has participated in many industry associations including co-founding the Strata Property Agents of BC, the National Association of Condominium Managers, Past President of the Rental Housing Council of BC and the Professional Association of Managing Agents and is currently a committee member and arbitrator of the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver and committee member of the Real Estate Council of BC and A Place to Call Home.
Maureen Enser recently retired after 30 years as President & CEO of the Urban Development Institute (UDI). Ms. Enser is a recognized authority on matters related to real estate and community development, housing and sustainable cities. Combining her expertise and interest in land use planning urban development and sustainable communities, Ms. Enser frequently addresses business, government, and community organizations both in Canada and abroad. She serves as an advisor to all levels of government on housing, economic and environmental issues as they relate to the urban development sector.
Alma Lee, CM, D.Litt
Alma Lee was the founding Artistic Director of the Vancouver International Writers & Readers Festival, which has been one of Granville Island’s most prestigious cultural events since 1988. She also was the founding Executive Director of The Writers’ Union of Canada and The Writers’ Trust. Ms. Lee retired from the Writers Festival in December 2005 and is currently enjoying new challenges.
Jane Shackell QC is associate counsel with Miller Thomson LLP in Vancouver, practicing corporate and commercial law, including mergers and acquisitions, commercial leasing and finance, and other matters. She is a Chartered Arbitrator, a Life Bencher of the Law Society of British Columbia, and Vice Chair of the Board of Governors of Capilano University.
