Have you noticed something missing at the entrance to Granville Island? The iconic, 30 year old neon sign, one of our most photographed landmarks, is temporarily off-site for refurbishment. A team of engineers and lighting technicians carefully lowered each piece of the sign from the bridge, and we waved goodbye to it for a couple of months. We hope to have it back up by the holidays. Here’s a time line of the day.
In other neon news, our Artisan District signs have had their neon refurbished, and they are all lit up just in time for our winter and holiday lighting (winter lighting activated November 1st; Holiday and Christmas Lighting, November 12th)
