Louise Valentine and Brian Provencher are an award-winning husband and wife team who have been collaborating since 1992. Louise is the designer and dyer while Brian does all of the shibori pleating and technical work. Their work has been shown in juried art shows and exhibitions in cities across Canada and the United States, winning numerous awards in fibre and wearable art categories. Working with silk dyeing since 1981, Louise has always been strongly influenced by Japanese techniques; exploring hand painting, gum resists dyeing, roku-zome, devore etching, silk screening, vat dyeing, and shibori resist dyeing. The most recent works are a combination of hand painting and shibori.
