This exciting demonstration integrates realism and abstraction in unexpected and magical ways by experimenting with the material possibilities of ink, gouache, and water soluble marker on paper. In working from his imagination, Ogilvie begins by spilling paint, then responds to suggested figures, and proceeds to articulate form and space with various mark-making approaches. Emphasis is placed upon playing with the juxtaposition of colour, calligraphic lines, and washes of paint.
