Vancouver Writers Festival Online Event: Incite: February 17

February 17 2021 @ 11:02 am PST

Think you know Vancouver’s hidden history? Put your knowledge to the test with a night of books celebrating the city’s wildest bygone days. Intrepid reporter and acclaimed author Eve Lazarus peels back the layers of Vancouver’s forgotten and consistently weird architecture in Vancouver Exposed (Arsenal Pulp Press). Bestselling author, musician, and cultural historian Aaron Chapman takes us through the origins of our favourite nightlife spots by looking back at its iconic music and entertainment venues (including those lost to time) in Vancouver After Dark (Arsenal Pulp Press). Finally, journalist and beloved local author Jesse Donaldson explores the colourful world of one of Vancouver’s most peculiar residents in Fool’s Gold: The Life and Legacy of Vancouver’s Official Town Fool (Anvil Press), before sidestepping to the whirlwind history of Vancouver’s treacherous and obscenely profitable real estate market in Land of Destiny: A History of Vancouver Real Estate (Anvil Press). Presented in partnership with the Vancouver Public Library.
