Ongoing Construction Projects

The small wooden foot bridge is expected to be rebuilt in spring 2025, following damage.

CMHC-Granville Island is also working to remove infrastructure that has reached the end of its life in the same area. The concrete walkway over the Alder Bay shoreline will be removed permanently, and with that reopen access to the shoreline. During this work the Alder Bay canoe and kayak dock has been temporarily relocated to allow a floating barge access for this work. The paddling dock will be returned to use once the pier removal work is completed in approximately two weeks. The Trans Canada Trail Pavilion will not be affected.

During construction, please use the paved pathway at the western end of Sutcliffe Park or the wooden foot bridge to Old Bridge Road to access Granville Island from the seawall, or the Anderson Street main entrance.

Please do not cut through the flower beds as this destroys the beautiful gardens that park staff work hard to create for the enjoyment of everyone.
