Vancouver Writers Fest returns with huge lineup of events on Granville Island

We are thrilled to again partner with, support , and welcome back to Granville Island, the Vancouver Writers Fest after two roller coaster years. To make it even more special, the Writers Fest is celebrating a noteworthy anniversary, 35 years!

This year, from October 17–23, the Vancouver Writers Fest will be hosting an almost fully in-person Festival, and for the first time, offering all their youth events both on-stage and via livestream. Click here for additional information for teachers.

And, although we can’t say exclusive, the 2022 Festival features 80 events, with all but 3 of the events on Granville Island! Yup, 77 events, all here on Granville Island!

Omar El Akkad, journalist and 2021 Scotiabank Giller Prize winner, is this years Guest Curator, who, with the festivals programming team, curated six events with a wide range of authors from around the world to join us here in conversations on home, identity, and storytelling.

The Vancouver Writers fest also welcomes back Jillian Christmas as their Spoken Word Curator and Sally Zori as their Musical Director for the Literary Cabaret.

Events include discussions about the state of modern journalism, the loss of reproductive rights for women, and a conversation about the rise of Indigenous storytelling around the world, alongside celebrations of debut novels, an ode to 80s lyrics as poems, bestselling festival favourites, and more.
