The Grainry’s Tex-Mex Slow-Cooker Chicken

This Tex-Mex-seasoned chicken comes out tender and full-flavoured and with only three ingredients and three steps, you don’t have to be a chef to prepare it. Since it takes 8 hours, we suggest making it on a weekend so it will be ready to go for the week.

INGREDIENTS:

3 chicken breasts
1 jar of salsa
50 grams of taco seasoning

INSTRUCTIONS:

Place all ingredients into a slow cooker for six hours.
Use two forks to shred the chicken.
Stir and let stand for two hours.
With its versatile flavour this chicken can be used in any number of dishes, including tacos, burritos, enchiladas, quesadillas, or even on a salad. For something really different, you could try a Tex-Mex take on chicken and waffles and top with green onions, corn, and tomatillo salsa.

Expert tip: “If you have a little extra time and you like to experiment, try making your own taco seasoning. The basic mix includes chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, red pepper flakes, oregano, paprika, cumin, salt and pepper, but don’t be afraid to play with the ratios and even other spices as you like.” – John, The Grainry
